The Rutherford County Chapter of the North Carolina Interfaith Caucus is pleased to announce our endorsement of Phil Burney for Rutherford County Commissioner.
As an interfaith organization, we believe public leadership matters. The decisions made by local government affect families, houses of worship, schools, access to services, and the everyday well-being of our neighbors. We value leaders who take that responsibility seriously, and who are willing to listen to their community—understanding that government works best when people trust it.
Throughout his candidacy, Phil Burney has demonstrated a thoughtful approach to public life. He has shown a willingness to engage difficult questions, hear concerns from people with different perspectives, and remain present in community conversations even when issues are complicated or disagreement exists. We've seen in him a sincere concern for the people of Rutherford County and a desire to serve with care and accountability.
The Rutherford County Interfaith Caucus includes people from many faiths, spiritual traditions, and moral backgrounds, and while we do not expect elected officials to agree with every member of our community on every issue we do believe our county benefits from leaders who respect religious diversity, take seriously the dignity of others, and approach public office with humility.
For these reasons, we are proud to endorse Phil Burney for Rutherford County Commissioner and encourage voters to support his candidacy.
